A menu-bar health panel and clean-up tool for the Mac. Frees space without ever deleting a file outright.

Built to be safe. Everything goes to the Trash first, so it can be put back. Mail, Messages, Photos, Documents, iCloud and system files are refused in code. Every move is logged.

Installing MacCare

1. Unzip and drag to Applications
Double-click the zip, then drag MacCare into your Applications folder.

2. Allow it once
macOS will say the developer cannot be verified. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. We have not paid Apple for a developer certificate yet; the app is signed locally.

3. Look for the ♥ in your menu bar
Click it for the health panel; Open MacCare for the clean-up tools.
These tools are free and provided as-is under the MIT licence, without warranty. They are built so that nothing is deleted outright, but please keep a backup as you would with any software. Questions or problems: [email protected]
